Mark Potoka and Matt Spicer make up the directing duo MAMA. They met while working as creatives at Wieden + Kennedy, and fell in advertising love. This budding romance of comedy commercial writing spawned a passion for directing and crafting their vision beyond the written page. 

Collaborating with top agencies across the land to make funny and nice-looking things, MAMA has created award-winning major broadcast and social campaigns for GEICO, Clorox, Rocket Mortgage, Dave’s Hot Chicken, Hershey’s, IHOP, Airheads, Panera, Seagram’s, Smartfood, Anheuser Busch, among many others. 

Tying together visual interest with absurdist humor, they’re a directing team that excels at drawing out hilarious performances from actors with MAMA’s signature comedic approach: treating the absolutely ridiculous with straight-faced reverence and severity. Their razor-sharp, uniquely funny dialogue reflects their years of shared experience writing in the advertising world, and this combo of dialogue and cinematic seriousness has created a unique comedic voice.
